I had a long tentacle plate coral about 2 months ago that had been slightly damaged during shipping and faded away to nothing in about 2 weeks (luckily the store gave me credit for it). I REALLY liked it though and thought I'd give it a shot again. This one came in perfect condition. No tears and it was fully inflated within 3 hours of being in my tank. However, sometimes it deflates only leaving around 10 tentacles out. Is this normal for them to deflate every once in a while? I think I'm just paranoid because of my past experience :-/. My params are all good and my calcium levels are where they should be. It gets moderate lighting and a gentle flow just enough to move it's tentacles.

Time will tell....Keep an eye on it. Don't be afraid to move it around. I have done this and I have had great results....not all tank are created equal...gotta find the sweet spot ! : )
    Good luck.

For some reason the Long tentacle ones are not very hardy unlike the extreme hardy short tentacle ones. I once had a Long tentacle die on me. He should be out most of the time and when he is feed him maybe once a week some shrimp or meaty something. How deep is your tank? You don't have much light.
