"3reefers"... HA HA! ...sounds like the opening scene of a Cheech and Chong movie.

That comment should date me. I'm a simi-old guy who got close enough to retirement that his favorite evil oil company laid him off. I had to do something productive (in addition to looking for a job) to preserve my sanity, so I started a nano reef (14 gal. Biocube).

I have three daughters; 6, 9, and 15, who are all really enjoying the tank, plus a wife who thinks it's a waste of money and time, but is enjoying it covertly.

I've been so busy with my "professional life" that I haven't had a tank for fifteen years. At that point I had two larger saltwater tanks and a few small freshwaters and several reptiles. Back then, I actually worked at a LFS, and I thought only fully funded research scientist should attempt a reef tank. :) My 120 gal. actually turned into a sort of reef tank when I added some rock and beasties I harvested from the bay near Corpus Christi.

    I'm a few weeks into my new nano-reef setup;so far I have:
    Stock Oceanic Biocube.
    20 lbs Live Sand
    12 lbs Live Rock (Fiji?)
Live Stock in Order of Appearance:
    Two turban snails
    Two Nassarius snails
    Emerald crab
    Two Blue Leg Hermit crabs
    Coral Banded Cleaner shrimp

For those of you joining us that are new to the hobby - the best piece of advice you'll get around here as a saltwater newbie is 3Reef's slogan
    "Go slow, let it grow."
And for those experianced hobbyists joining us - it's still good advice :p

Sounds very familiar, I too have 3 girls 4, 9 and 11. I also have a wife who criticizes the tank with me on a nightly basis but brags consistently about it with her friends.

    Welcome to 3Reef!
