Hello 3reef! I'm Joe, 31 years old. New to the saltwater/marine hobby. Currently I'm in the process of setting up my 65g reef with sump. Should be putting water in it this weekend.

I'm hoping to gain some knowledge from this site.

Hi! Welcome to 3reef and best of luck with your endeavor into the realm of saltwater! You should learn alot here at 3reef with the many knowledgeable fellow reefers!
We all started at the beginning stages as you in the saltwater hobby, however, you should be able to grow and become very knowledgeable as long as you apply yourself, read and research!

The tank has been sitting in my living room since November.

I wonder if I have the patience part covered? ;D

    My equipment list so far:

    AGA 65g (36x18x24)
    AGA Pine Stand & Canopy
AquaC Remora Pro w/ Mag 5
    DIY Acrylic Sump/Fuge (30x12x14)
Quiet One 3000 for return pump
Hurricane U-Tube overflow (rated at about 600-650 gph)
    (2) Maxi-Jet 900's
    (2) E. Jager 100w heaters
    Tek Retro T5 Lighting, Four x 39w

I've calculated my return to be somewhere around 430-450 gph..
Mag5 on the skimmer will be on the bottom of the sump, with about 10" of head and a fitting on the pump converting it to 3/4" tubing.. this should throttle the max 500gph down in the 400's.. give or take..
Based on my rough calculations, it "should" all flow smoothly and be equal..;D
