Anyone have experience with these? Im about to pull the trigger on this unit unless you can show me something better for $300.

Look at AquaCave.com for IceCap RetroKits...a bit more $ (no bulbs), but you can then get good quality bulbs from the start. Better ballast too.

these kits are awesome... i have the 48" model and its great.... you can choose what bulbs you want at time of purchase. this thing is bright, the bulbs i got at no extra charge are 2 aquablue specials, 1 blue plus, 1 fiji purp and the color is amazing. i think the ballast is made by aro and has 15% overdrive, just enough for more penetraion without hurting bulb life and causing overheating

 

I had a vho kit from them 8 years ago, I would shop there again.

 

someone needs to hit this new line of odyssea fixtures with a par meter to gauge there performance.
