    Hi .
    My first post :)

    I have a 100 gallon , Fish only with live Rock system . Aquamedic bow fronted tank .

    My filteration consists of Protein Skimmer , trickle filter with bio balls , phosphate removal media and 40kgs of live rock .

    2 white T5's and 2 Blue T5's lights . 10 hours a day

    10, 000 lph water circulation

    System is 6 months old

    Amm = 0
    Nitrite = 0
    Nitrate = 25

    I have the following fish ,
    clown trigger , algae blenny , queen angel , regal tang , yellow eyed tang , 2 clown fish and clean up crew

    I would be gratefull of your views regarding my filteration . I have had so much different advice . Some say "take out the bio balls " " nitrate factory " etc etc .

    Any other advice , views regading my system would be much appreciated

    Many thanks

    Clarky

    Welcome to 3reef, glad to have you aboard. The bio balls will be fine on a fish only tank. There are many ways to run SW tank and they all work. Hope you tank brings you many years of enjoyment.

    Agreed, if its going to be FO I probably would keep them as most of those fish are going to get HUGE and put out LOTS of waste!!!!
    Good luck and make sure you are doing lots of water changes!!

    Welcome and as salaam alaykum

    Matt Rogers has put a lot of his own time in on this site to make it what it is today. If you see a post of his then give him some Karma for it. And again...Welcome

    'ello bloke! A welcome from us here across the pond. Your set is good, bio balls get a bad rap, they can not create Nitrate, the detritus that is allowed to accumulate on them creates Nitrate. Use a pre-filter pad above the bio balls (like you may already be doing) and change it once a week and you will be fine. I would suggest to add a Phosphate reactor to run the media. Again, welcome to the forum.
