    Hi All,

My husband and I are looking at getting into the reef keeping hobby. We are considering getting a 72x18x30 tank to set up as a reef system. Neither of us has ever kept fish before so this is a new adventure for us!

So far our only purchases have been some books and magazines because I'm trying to learn as much as I can beforehand in hopes of not making any regrettable equipment selections. I have already spent untold amounts of time surfing the Web trying to figure all of this out and I'm beginning to get a bit overwhelmed and discouraged. I'm hoping that some folks on this forum will be willing to help me sort through the mounds of information and make sense of it.

    K-K

Welcome and enjoy this site. That is a big tank! Should turn out really nice, bigger tanks are easier to maintain proper water parameters. Do your research, as it sounds like you are doing and ask questions. You should have a really nice tank in time.

welcome to 3reef , that is a large starter tank. but it sounds like you started right, it is much better to learn as much as possible before diving in. when you deside to i promise you will be rushing home from work or wherever towork on and admire your new addiction. happy reefing and hope to see you around

First things first, Welcome to 3reef! Sounds like you and your hubby have a good head on your shoulders. You guys are starting off in a great way, researching before hand. Yes, it can be very overwhelming, esp if your just starting out, but dont get discouraged, everything will fall into place. I will tell you one thing thou, you get what you pay for, esp in this hobby, so dont go cheap b/c it will cost double later. Read through this web-site, it should/will clear up alot. Keep us posted on the progress.
