Good afternoon fellow fishies. I'm new to this forum because I'm looking for information on a SW tank. I've got a 10 gallon and a 29 gallon freshwater tank and recently got a 12 gallon SW tank. I'm a cop in Colorado and have always wanted fish tanks. The wife is letting me have two tanks, so now that I've got one SW tank I need to get rid of my 10 gallon freshwater.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot.

Hold on....maybe the wife can be swayed. Being a cop, you've probably heard every excuse in the book. Maybe one can be used to your advantage lol. If anything tell her fish have to be kept in odd numbers and that includes tanks. Tell her the whole fung schwa (no idea how to spell it) of the house will be thrown off. If that fails well..keep the 29 IMO and donate the ten to a local school. Good luck.

Well the 10 gallon I'm allowed to keep as a quarantine/hospital tank if needed, but it has to be empty until that time arises and then as soon as the fish is better it goes back in the garage. I have to get rid of the other 29 gallon tank with cloudy glass and cracked plastic frame and the 5 gallon setup we also have.

The somewhat nice thing is she doesn't care at all about the tanks so she never really looks at them. I just added stuff to both and she doesn't have a clue. So if I go slow I can make improvements. She's also said she didn't care how big the tanks were but there could only be two. So down the road I'm looking at a big fresh and a big salt. We'll see.

Why don't you use the spare 10g as a sump that way you can hide all your heaters, skimmers etc;)
