    Howdy! and welcome to 3Reef, like Fritts said you might be having a lot of evaporation also, 29g tank will change in no time! they are a little less forgiven than larger tanks, if you have to add 1/2 of a gal or more a day, there is a good possibility that not only salinity, but other trace elements might be dropping also. I have a 55g with a 20g long sump and the average evaporation is 1gal a day some times less at a temp. between 74º-76º the hotter the water the greater the evaporation factor

    Well I fixed the salinity issue, I believe the return jet was playing havoc with the in-tank hydrometer so i redirected it. I also to play safe did a 5 gallon change i had planned to do that this weekend but oh well I did it early. Salinity is stable now and I have double checked it with two hydrometers. On a side note I just ordered two koralia nano pumps to improve flow.

    Welcome to 3reef!!! i would never advise to do a water change during cycling, it prolongs the cycle, hope to see some pics!!

    +1. Probably added 2 weeks to the cycle doing that.

    I wouldnt hold your breath for the skimmer. The biocubes skimmers are complete junk and a total waste of $40, and do more harm than good in the long run IMHO.
