    Most algea problems arise from: too much feeding that builds up nitrates and phosphates, lack of cleanup crew, poor skimmer performance, old light bulbs, and low alkalinity and magnesium.

    Welcome. Also keep in mind that if you have a newer tank, algae blooms are normal and will go away in a week or two provided that your water is good quality and within suggested ranges.
