Leave it b.at this point trying to get the hippo out would make it worse as long as its eating ur still ok.feed quality frozen food and soak in garlic and selcon,or similar product( this is good measure ick or no ixk). U can also increase frequency of water changes this will help keep water parameters better az
aswell as possibly removing some free floating ick.a uv sterilizer may help aswell.

Corailline posted a link to this site just yesterday for someone else who has an ich problem. Lots of useful facts.

Mr. Bill gave you an excellent link.

Just keep your water parameters where they should be, keep your fish well fed, and the problem should handle itself. Some will argue that you should setup a QT and use copper medications and all that stuff, but I say leave that for the last resort.

I purchased a UV sterilizer to run on my system when my tank got ich. The ich went away after about a week and the sterilizer has been in the equipment room collecting dust ever since. Still nice to have if my tank ever gets ich again, although the real solution was stable and correct water parameters.

This is from that link above. I guess my whole "feed it and let it be" method isn't so great. I guess with the UV running it broke the cycle or at least diminished it to the point where the fish could build up an immunity? I haven't seen any signs of ich for many months now.

you should double you water change routines...this will help kill off the amount of nutrients the desease is feeding on to migrate it's cells and become more of a major problem.

i dont know i kinda agree with doratus with the feed / monitor approach along with the UV sterilizer. i actually left my uv in the tank after my first ich outbreak. blue hippo and because i was not feeding often enough it wiped the whole tank including clowns, angel and blenny. had a lfs mention to me that his tank at home every once and a while pops ick and it usually happens when his auto feeder is out. does a quick water change and fills feeder and ick disappears. so i bought a pair of cinnamon clowns which i smartened up and started feeding some decent food every morning and havent had an issue since. now have those clowns, cb angel and a sailfin tang. the tang got ick right after acclimation gone within a day or two. being that ick can just pop up out of the blue i have to agree with the idea that it is pretty much ever present or that fish have the capability under stress to get it whenever. good regular feedings is a good way to minimize stress as long as your wc are consistent and you keep an eye on your levels. just my two cents...

try using a small tub to "scare" the fish into, much easier than trying to grab with just a net. then u can add to your hospital tank

My stepson's blue tang had the ick. He was feeding his fish flake food. I started feeding it the same mysis shrimp mixed with garlic guard. With in a few days, the ick started going away. His color came back, although it has some scars from scratching its face on the rock. I didn't do anything else to the tang, I just started feeding it mysis shrimp with garlic guard. I hope this helps, good luck

I use Novalek Herbal Ick Attack. It is completely reef safe and natural. In my experience clears it up in 24-48 hours.
