I got an anemone in my tank and yesterday he was looking great. Full, moving well, he at last night....well the power went out for 6 hours and this morning I wake up to this. Tested the water and all is well, everyone else is doing good? What is the deal? Should I remove him?

Looks to me that it may just be a little stressed. I wouldnt touch it and just keep a close eye. If it seems worse and worse within the next few hours/day or 2, I would then get it out of there

see if this afternoon it takes food. If it keeps shrinking and moves to back i would get it out. But wait a day or so.

Probably just stressed out because of the power outage. Leave it alone, but really keep a close eye on it. When anemone's die they can release toxins into the water, effectively killing your entire tank (depending on the anemone and tank of course). Also, when they die, they "dissolve" rather quickly. Keep an eye on him and see if he moves back into good water flow and takes food later on.

Do you have a quarantine tank?

The foot seems to be well attached to the rock still.. that is one sign that things are not as bad as they may seem.

What kind of light was it under when you purchased? And now?

I would leave it in the display for the time being to prevent further stress, but if that foot starts to droop or come off of that rock, isolate it.

Also, it is possible that its about to split, stress will trigger them to procreate sometimes. So, if it starts to pull itself in two directions, dont panic, just enjoy the show.. and get pictures as its rarely documented.

    Good luck!

I hate to say this, but from what I understand, copper will kill anemones. There are many animals that have no tolerance to copper, and anemones are one of them. Sharks, rays, octopus and jellies are others. Come to think of it, it seems most inverts are not tolerant to copper. As a rule, never run copper in a tank, if you must, use a copper substitute. Do several small water changes over the next few days to get the copper level down as much as you can. Run carbon, run your skimmer, get the copper out of the tank asap.

I think they have copper in their quarantine with a fish and that's why they cannot put the anemone in... i dont think they put copper in their tank.. At any rate, with my anemone, when he was looking down, i would always check to see if his tentacles are sticky. Thats usually a good way to tell if they're still doing ok.
+1 on the foot attachment theory. If you can easily push his foot off then check him into a hotel. If he's still attached, then he'll be ok if you can get him to eat.

I'm going to assume that there is no copper in your main tank, where the anemone is.

To me it looks fine. Stressed but fine. +2 on the foot it looks like it's holding well to the rock.
