    got home and my fowler tang was laying on the bottom of the tank with my clown trigger pecking at him....fowlere is about 8 inches and clown trigger is like 3...

    i have a 29 biocube and i put my trigger in it.

    how fast can a qt be set up if i used sand and rock from my main tank?

    ?!?! what is your current tank size that the Tang is in now? is it swimming or laying on the bottom?

    If you used sand and rock from the main tank, you should be fine for a QT. make sure you have plenty of water movement in it. the sand and rock will provide the biological filter for it. many leave a filter pad in their sump and toss it in a HOB filter and heve an instant QT that way. I keep a large hunk of porus rock in my sump for that.
