Help PLEASE!!!!

Wow, how many of your fish feed off of it ?.

I worry about over feeding and making my nitrates spike. ( and or have to do more water changes, which I currently doing twice a month. I was told I could get away once a month. What are your thoughts ???:

I love those tangs to , if you try soaking some seaweed in some garlic juice , this will help with getting rid of ich.

Sadly some tangs are just ich factorys like the powder blue , those are notorious for that they seen to get it just by looking at it wrong apparently .

Bi-color damsels are and the rest are little "war-lords" of the deep especialy if in little schools.
Green chromis are fairly gentle to other fish ( its the only thing near damsels i will keep )

I to also have a regal tang (commonly known as a "dori")
it's very small , bought the size of a quarter it commonly hangs with the green chromis
and has done VERY well in my tank.
Yellow tangs are among the hardiest of the family and sizible ones are quite the agressive one some times.

Ive had ( the ones that seemed easiest and relativly easy to feed and recover from ich/stress/aclamation>
Purple,
Yellow,
Regal,
Sohol,
Naso,
Scopas,
Sail fin (indian ocean)
Sail fin (central / south pacific,
Kole,
Convict.

Sadly the ones that seem to be among the hardest to keep and seem to fall victim to illness are readily availible are
(but i did'int say they couldint be kept)
Healthy VIBRENT specimens should only be purchased if you are to attempt to keep one of these (more so)
And even then stress/not eating/poor diet, can kill these very quickly.
Achilles,
Powder blue,
White cheek,
Powder brown, ( also known and sold as white cheeks )

There are quite a few more "tang" that i have not mentioned here but i donnot or any one ive kown to have extended experiance with .
All the ones that are mentioned above are typicaly availible at most LFS.

 

Hey Lissa, I have a yellow & Kole Tang, Foxface, Neon goby, Six line and a Midas Blenny that like to eat the seaweed. The seaweed lasts about 2-3 mins and its gone. I also feed(when I get home from work) (2) frozen cubes and sometimes a 3rd(brine shrimp as dessert). This is a daily feeding and I dont do WC's anymore. What is your No3 level at?

 

if it was scratching itself against the rocks and such, it could be ich? any white spots?

 

if youre afraid of this, id get the best skimmer you can afford, it will help greatly, i feed once/twice a day, light.

and frozen food every other 3 days or so..

and i only feed pellets as a staple

I was on ebay and found a new 250L protien skimmer for about $10.00 + shipping of $20.00, I don't know if this size will be sufficient for my 55 gal.

I have priced them out at $120-180.00 so Im a bit skeptical of the one on Ebay.

I will be doing a water change this evening and will report nitarte results later.

Also, what can you guys tell me about a product I also found on line called ECO-Aqualizer....which states will get rid of ich, and other fish disease as well as reduces water changes by up to 75 %, and eliminates cloudy and yellow water...??? sounds to good to be true eh???

 

The ECO-Aqualizer is just a section of 1 inch PVC with some magnets taped to it and a fancy blue shrink wrapper . Worthless really I took one apart in a LFS once and won the bet The LFS guy was like damnnnnnnn what a rip off LOL I said yes and you brought a case of them.. He took 2 more apart and found the same thing Its Junk really.. As for getting rid of ich ??? Never happen noting will ever get rid of ich the fish just build up a bit more immunity with every outbreak of it.. Simple heat is the best all round cure it will speed up the life cycle from 72 hrs to a bit less .. There is only one part of their cycle that they can be killed and or weakened .. and they are only in the free swimming stage just long enough to find a stressed host fish
