    hello people im back! lol ok for the past few days I have seen this grainy red looks sprinkled over my sugar fine sand bed only. not on any rocks glass in my DT. my refuge has a 4"deed sugar fine bed with crush aragonite on top it. when I turn my lights on in the Morning the sand is white. buy time I get home its sprinkled red where the light hits. and even between the crushed aragonite its some on top of the fine sand. running cheep house t8 bulbs and all specs are 0 nitrates are 5.0 phosphates are 0

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Red Cyanobacteria. The tank might just cycle through it, Cyano is not uncommon to new tanks, usually hangs in there for a couple months. If it gets worse there are interventions.

    I see your bad arse fish is still hanging in there, good.

    ok then guys I have never seen Cyano like that I guess. usually its taking over everything!! lol yea I aint killed him yet hahaha and the thousands of pods down stairs and up stairs with him...he don't eat them lol and to many tiny lil black hair like worms everywhere don't know what that is either :p

    ingtar not my lil dottyback!! hes scarred of everything ! even all the copepods I worked so hard to get in my tank..he just looks at them. if im not mistaken im using my shirt as a filter until I can get more socks :)

    cyano is not a fan of current either. in fact its a pretty good sign that your system may not have enough flow going round it. in a system there should be areas of the aquarium where the flow is soft almost non existent but there should be no dead flow areas.

    if this is the case you may risk not only the outbreak of cyano but gunk sedimentation preventing your filters and live bacteria to have a shot at it to break it down/capture it.

    swiss good point! I haven't got my power heads put in yet..was going to then figured since there was really nothing in the DT why lol ok so now I have a good reason to hook them up ty
