    Low Salinity
I started my tank in November with dry rock that was then seeded with some live rock. The cycle went very well. I had a huge alage bloom that was easily handled by a clean up crew from Fin-Sanity.

About 2 weeks ago, I added a lawnmower blennie (Benny) and he seems to be doing quite well munching on the many pods in the tank, as well as any hair algae that pops up. I also drop a spirulina wafer in from time to time for him and the crabs.

I've done a number of 5/gal. water changes since adding the cuc. My salinity has been a constant 1.023, measured with a good refractometer. In my opinion, this is the bottom limit. I would like to increase it to 1.025. What is the best way to do that? I know that it would be through water changes so my real question is to what salinity should I mix my new 5 gallons of water in order to start boosting my salinity. Once I am at 1.025 I will start adding some lps frags. Oh... I have a JBJ 28 advanced LED.

    Thanks.
    Steve

The big thing is that you just don't want to change it too much at a time.

IMO I would take the tank salinity and adjust your water change to be .001 higher than the tank. Repeat until the tank gets to 1.025. This will speed things up, but just watch it because you can overshoot

How often and what size water changes do you typically make?

When I raise my sg, I just uses 1.026 sg water change water until it's back up where I want it to be. Moves nice and slow and steady.

My plan is to put 1.027 water in my topoff bucket and check the tank daily. My ATO typically replaces about 6 oz of tank water per day.

Just keep an eye on how fast things are changing, at 6 oz a day you should be okay, but when I started out I added saltwater to top off to raise sg and found it went quicker than I had thought.

You really want to stay away from this. Just add 1.026 water when you do water changes

I would tend to agree- sounds like a potential recipe for disaster. I would do it in controlled increments through water changes.
