hey guys. I woke up today and looked into my tank, and my clownfish looks sick :(. He's turned pale and isn't the vibrant orange like before, also his fins just seem to be deteriorated in a few spots. I'm so bummed! I did a 5 gallon water change last night with water I bought premixed by my LFS. Maybe there was something wrong with the water..

I'm testing right now so i'll post my params in a minute and i'll try to get a picture..

    Please help me!!

Here's my params. Ammonia 0, nitrate and nitrite both 0, PH: 7.8. I don't know why my ph is so low! It's been steady 8.2 the past few weeks. I just did a 5 gallon water change yesterday.. Could that be the reason? If so what should I do to raise it? By the way, the fish is still swimming around perfectly fine and I Just got him to eat.

Here's a picture of the little guy. I tried my best, but I'm using my camera phone and he won't quit moving around..

Yes he looks sick, sorry. A pH of 7.8 is not the issue, if you tested right when the lights go on or shortly afterward you are going to see a lower pH.

Extremely difficult to judge from an image but it looks more like Brookynella or Amyloodinium than Marine Ich to me. Again very hard to say for sure even with a good image.

    Hopefully this link will help.

I had to go to work, but I'll test again tonight. The pale coloring is just around his fins. Could it be fin rot?

How many gallons is your tank? And was the salinity and temp the same when you did the water change?

IMO fin rot is one of those bacterial opportunistic infections that sets in when the fish is stressed for one reason or another, similar to pop-eye disease. While treatable, I believe it is just a symptom of something more going on. Maybe stress acclimation, issues with nutrition, bullying.........

My tank is a 40. I'm not sure about the same salinity. I got all my water from the same place from beginning. So I assume it's the same. Temp was the same.. He's been in there for almost 2 weeks. There was initial bullying but he and my other clown sorted it out..

It's too late, just got home from work and he's done. He looked completely healthy last night. Most of his fins deteriorated and he's pale all over now. But he's out of the DT. What in the world couldve killed it so quick? :(. I have another clown who's not showing any symptoms but I'd like to keep it that way. I've already water changed 5 gallons, and will get more tmrw to change out. Anyone have any clue?
