Okay, my seamats are falling one by one. The last 2 wks a few pieces have fallen off and I don't know why. They seem fine, open all the time, they are in a low flow area and there is no nudibranch. anyone have any suggestions I might have missed?

Are the pieces that are falling off still alive? Could it be that they're run out of room on their rock and are looking to go forth and multiply elsewhere in the tank?

One of my friends started a zoanthid farm. He lost half of it before he figured out what was going on. He kept finding polyps unattached but still alive.

He had bubble algae in his tank so he threw a couple of emerald crabs in there. After they got rid of the bubble algae, they started pulling up individual polyps while picking for microalgaes. Possibly you have a hitchhiking mithrax crab.

I've checked my tank as thoroughly as possible and have looked at night, everynight, never see anything unusual. They seem alive, they aren't closed or deteriated at all, they just fall off and then get blown in the flow elsewhere. There are alot of little polyps growing out of the rock so maybe they did run out of room. I only have 2 tiny green bubble algae and it not on the seamat. I will have to watch them and see if there is anything going on. Anyone have a picture of that brown jelly disease?

Thanks amcarrig. I saw some brown stuff on my seamats and I had never seen a good pic of brown jelly so I didn't know if it was detritus or the disease. No mine doesn't look like those pics, must be just detritus or in the coral, it's not slimy at all. Thanks I'm bookmarking that page...great info.

Whew! Glad to hear that it's not brown jelly! That stuff can get nasty!

Well I don't know what it is but it's not slimy and it's only near the base of the coral near the rock it's attached to. Could be nothing but it's not on the substrate and nothing else. There are new ones in place???
