so is it good if a skimmer gets really dark brown stuff in the cup, why is it bad when its light green and wet, why are micro bubbles bad and how do you get rid of them?

I just aim my skimmer output water flow away from my return pump inlet to get rid of micro bubbles. not bad, just most people dont like viewing them in the DT. as for skimming anything in the cup is good, just empty and wash out often.

+1 micro bubbles are not bad and normal after feeding and break in periods. They are just annoying to livestock. The color of your skimmate just shows your consistency, tune your skimmer to get the right mixture of water and air

People like the dark, nasty smelling gunk because they are "dry" skimming to keep the water loss to a minimum.
