I still have no idea what is wrong with my blue tang and have attached a picture that shows the pointy thing coming out of his body, if anyone has any idea what it is i would REALLY appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Is it acting normal? Is it eating? I really don't know what it could be. My only guesses are a broken bone of some kind, or it may have eaten something, but I really don't know.

well i have been feeding him spirulina brine shrimp, mysis, and some herbivore frozen food all with garlic and selcon, because he wasn't eating pelet, flake, or sheet algae. He was eating fine for the first few weeks, and i was trying to make him eat the algae sheets, but when i noticed this point about a week ago he stopped eating as much and now he seems to eat very little (which i would expect if this is in fact a broken bone or something that is causing him pain). He has been acting normal, except the last few days he has been hiding behind the rocks more often.

Thanks for all the replies! But if this is a broken bone, is there any way to treat or fix it??

ok well, i think i've got this all wrong.
I have totally changed my mind, and i am pretty sure he has internal blockage from swallowing a piece of sand, or something he wasnt supposed to, since his his gut looks huge and the rest of his body appears malnourished. And if im correct, would a salinity dip of 1.03-1.035, as my LSF suggested, be the only treatment??

That sucks....sounds like you may be right with the blockage idea. Makes sense at least......

Anyone know how to clear the blockage?
