I had/have the coolest hermit crab ever; but I dont think they molt their shell like my "spider" crab and cleaner shrimp.

My only guess is that he got caught w/ his pants down (or shell off) by my 6' wrasse...He always stayed in the same shell since dayone.
    Any 2nd opinions??

they do molt, 2 different hermits of mine have done it, the molting looks like the whole crab BTW so if you didnt check its shell it may be alive, mine tucked in far after molting, I though it wasnt in the shell anymore, but they come out in full force in a few days, they are a little skittish at first after molting cause they are soft I geuss

    Any changes in water paramters?

    HI,
Mine seemed to be very sensative to any water changes they would sulk.
They seem to be a fairly sensative invert to heavy metals too.
Its hard to id any possiable sources, things like lights, clamps, pumps, tap water ..
