Does everyone keep hermits in the display tank. If your answer is no, why?

I have a few. Clibanarius vittatus are expert climbers (but they get big), clibanarius digueti will eat aiptasia, and others will eat just about any algae or leftover food in the tank.

Some people don't like them because they can knock things over if they're big, and are pretty much willing to eat anything if they feel the urge (however unlikely), almost regardless as to the species.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I keep one small hermit in the DT.

I do not keep more because mine have killed snails in the past, knocked over frags. My bristle worms and mico brittle stars do a fine job of cleaning.

I have about 50 blue leg hermits....bad idea. They eat snails (small ones, only for their shell it seams) and crawl all over corals. Don't generally knock corals over because they stay small. The only reason I still have them is because they've eaten all of my snails already and there is no reason to get rid of them until I get more snails and they do consume algae.

I keep mainly the blue leg ones that are small, and I have big snails, plus plenty of shells that they can chose from, I really dont mind them they knock over some stuff but they do a fairly good job.

I cleared out most of mine when they started ripping cluster dusters apart.

I have a couple left in the DT. As they get bigger I bring them back to the LFS. I won't be adding anymore. Hermits climb on everything. Especially things I don't want them climbing on. Sometimes they decide to sit on top of frags and not move. IMO they are more trouble than they are worth.

Yep, none for me and I don't plan on it. Other crabs maybe, but not hermits.

I have a 30+ in my 55. I have a lot of empty shells for them so they leave my snails alone. They do climb everywhere but don't bother anything long term, My zoa's close up for a few minutes if one crawls over them. I think the main problem is if you don't have enough empty shells they will kill snails for them.
