Hallo all, well my uncle if converting to reef :)

He has a 35 gal hexagon tank.

I am trying to think of what kind of lighting he should get, in the long run i believe he wants to have hard corals...so...i was thinking that because the hex is a weird shape anyway to maybe go with a 150w 20,000k mh and some supp vho actinics? any suggestions?

I have a 40G hex. The Hamilton 250 HQI works great for me. I use 14K and have no need for supplimental lighting

Strung up. It's about 6 inches from the water. maybe more. 250 HQI is prob. overkill but the price was right when I was looking for light

My set up is really easy. I took 2 2x4s and ran then on a wall. Then attached alluminum rods (easy to cut) to the 2x4s to extend out over the tank. Then drilled holes were I wanted the lights and screwed hooks in.
It's not 100% slick but it works
