Alright so I picked up a 45 gallon hexagon tank really cheap and want to put a pair of clowns and a dwarf angel in there. The thing is I eventually want it to be a reef so I was wondering what I could do for lighting for a hex tank?

    Hex tank
sorry I am not familiar with gallonage on non rectangle shaped tanks

what are the dims of the hex across the middle please
and the dims of the hex across the 2 faces behind and in front of the middle

Im trying to work out if a retro fit T5 combination might work with 2 larger T5s across the middle and then 2 smaller ones front and 2 smaller behind

or a MH pendant ( or 2) might be an easier method

Maybe a clip on pendent like the Viper HQIs by JBJ. I believe Coralife has one also. You can choose whether you want the 70W or the 150W. What kind of corals are you planning to keep?

Mostly frogspawn and mushrooms, maybe some polyps. I'll get the dimensions of the tank in a bit.

if i am correct, a 45 hex is a very tall tank. i would do 1x250 watt MH pendent. get a 20K bulb and no need for actinic supplementation.

i would try to get a 250 watt instead of 150, unless you are ok with placing corals near the top, etc
