Hey All, Just starting out in the hobby... I've been reading a lot of books and forums, etc and just this week I got my gear up and running. This is what I've got so far:

    40 gallon glass tank
    Blue/White PC Lights
    External Hang on Overflow
10 Gallon glass tank for a sump
    1 Sock Filter
    1 950gph Mag Pump
20lbs of Live Rock (Will get more later)
    40lbs Live Sand
    2 100watt heaters

I can't wait to start putting livestock into the tank

    Anyone else from Vegas?

Hello lvnick! Welcome to 3reef...Best of luck with your tank as it seems you have a good grasp on your tank and the equipment part of the equasion.

Once you get the cycling underway and done with...you can have some fun populating your tank! Spend the required time to ensure that you choices are wise ones and you consider husbandry and compatibility requirements to help you avoid detrimental pitfalls along your journey in the marine hobby.

Looks like you are off to a good start. While waiting for tank to cycle, just wander about town and spend hours looking at great tanks spread throughout the city...;)

    Enjoy

    Welcome to 3Reef..

I'm live in Vegas (been here since age 3). I've been keeping aquariums for quite some time now in Vegas, (about 6 years) so I know which fish stores to go to in town. Let me know if you need any help.

There are a couple good exhibitations in Vegas like the Shark Reef and the huge SW tank at Ceasars Palace..

Oh great. I've been to a few. Which one(s) do you like best?

Well, I'd say Green Valley Aquariums has the best selection of corals, fish, and equipment, but they are way overpriced. This place called Fish Tropical on Bruce Street is pretty good. Their selection isn't the best, but they have good prices, and can get you custom built cabinets and tanks, and a girl named Liz their who helps me is very good. Trop Aquarium on Tropicana is a good place too, kind of pricey, ok selection. ATM is another good one. ATM stands for Acrylic Tank Manufacture. They custom build Bada$$ acrylic tanks and refugiums. They have a really good selection also, all kinds of cool fish and corals, but they are also a little overpriced.. ATM has 2 locations, west Las Vegas and Henderson.. There are a couple others, but those are my favorites..

What side of town do you live on??
