im treating tank with hypo-salinity and i noticed that the tang is chasing the maroon clown and eating its fins and tail. yesterday i placed a piece of red nori in tank and the tang stopped chasing the clown and started eating the nori. but today he is back on his chase.
is it because the parameters are off? should i separate the clown from the tank?

i posted that on my previous thread but probably nobody noticed it.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Man you can not catch a break, bummer.

Try changing the rock work around if this is the dsplay. If a QT add some PVC if you can. Sometimes even a mirror taped to the outside of the tank will distract a fisty tang as well.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

i have a 75g tank and i have 1 blue hippo, 2 maroon clowns, 1 domino and 2 yellow tail blue damsels. all damsels are 1" or smaller, the tang is the largest around 3".
anyways im gonna start increasing salinity (after a week of treatment) i think the amonia is messing with their heads, the clowns divorced and swimming in opposite sides of the tank, the domino is hiding more often.
ive been doing water change at least 1ce a day during las week and all i could do is keep amonia at 0.5.
if ich comes back ill put all fish in quarantine tank and drop salinity there, i cant deal with rock die-off.

You'll find that the hippo will get increasingly aggresive as it grows & they grow quick. They're much happier & better suited for tanks 100g+. I think you'd be better off swapping it out for a fish that will grow comfortably in size to a 75g. It will be much less of a headache to deal with ich that will only stress the other fish out.

I had the same issue with my Hippo when I put a small one in my 55g. Being new to the hobby I thought it would be ok. It grew quickly and began terrorizing my clowns and I got rid of it & restored peace to the tank.

I may be behind here, but why are you treating with Hyposalinity? if it is because of Marine ICH, you are taking a step backwards. Im assuming this is not a QT but your main display? how long has it been setup because if it is not a new tank, why do you have ammonia?

you are right this is my DT, and it is a 2+ month old tank, i had an ammonia spike from die off in live rock. (i saw lots of worms free floating in the tank and even some tiny wight starfishs) and i guess ammonia breaking bacterias will not work in hyposalinity. now i increased back salinity and all my fish are doing much better. they are swimming in the front of the tank showing their bright color. and tang is not bothering any of the other fish (back to normal)
now my question is: i still have the Cuc with couple of live rock and some sand in a separate thank when is a good time to move them back? i did hyposalinity for 2 weeks and then increased it back to normal, its been 1.025 for 2 days now.
