I recently set up a 29g tank and last night i added the live rock. I couldnt sleep so i turned the lights on around 3 am and saw a pretty decent size crab. I managed to get him out before he could hide. My LFS loves the moto "If you cant ID it kill it" but i feel bad for the little guy. I do not have a camera so i know this will be tough but hes alittle bigger then a quarter with a green top and white underside with red eyes. My plans for the tank are 2 clowns and a bubble tip anemone (so far, it will not have any coral but most likely more fish) i know crabs can be a nightmare in coral tanks but how do they fair with anemones? I do not plan to put him back into the tank until i bring him into my LFS to be ID but has any one had any experence with this?

He is a mean looking thing. Probably better off out of the display tank.

I don't think that is the species he has. I think it looks more like a Actaeodes tomentosus. Definitely a Xanthid though and not reef safe.

The live rock came from a LFS and after i brought the crab back today and showed it to them told me they bought the live rock from another customer who broke down his tank, i was kinda annoyed but i suppose no harm done since i caught him. I am planing on doing some random flashlight inspections for a week or so before anything new is added just in case i have to pull my liverock to remove somthing else.

Thank you all for the advice.
