    Hi,
I am new to this forum and need some help.
I just bought a hollywood stunner about 3 days ago and put it in my 25 gallon reef setup. my tank has LR, LS and high output LED lighting I was told by my LFS that the light I have would support the stunner just fine. I put the stunner in the top part of my tank closer to the light and it seems to have been doing great but then this morning I went and looked at it and it seems like the edges of it are crumbling off or something is taking bites of it? In my tank I have the following fish: true percula clown, lyrtail anthias, blue mandarin, scooter blenny, and a royal gramma. Along with a wonderful clean up crew. I also have a huge emerald crab (Ive been thinking he may be the suspect) he seems to always mess with my corals. anyways what does it sound like to you? I moved the stunner down to the middle part of my tank encase it was just to close to the light, but I wont know for sure yet and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

first picture is when I got it and second picture is the crumbling Im referring to .

    thanks a lot

If anything, it was the emerald. No other suspects there.

Could be the crab or could be the lights. Especially being that high up under LED's. What are your parameters? Could also be alk burn.

Please don't be offended but IMO you have way to many fish in a 25g tank. I'm especially concerned about the Dragonets.

I will test all my parameters and post results in the morning while I am cleaning my tank. I think it is the emerald as well. It is like little chunks like something is biting it? Do you see in the picture how it looks? almost looks like little pinches being taken away. And this happened over night which is when the crab is most active. It looked perfect the first 2 days, last night when I spent my usual time staring at the tank..... then this morning BAM! anyways It has been moved to the lower middle section so if the light caused it I hope that fixes the problem. however if it is the crab......what should I do? Remove him? Or will he stop messing with it after a day or so? If I need to remove him how should I go about doing that with out tearing apart my whole reef?

As far as having too many fish, I have had the tank going for about 4 years now and I know it has plenty of food for the dragonets if that is whats concerning with them (I also order pods once a month just to be sure but both dragonets are also eating mysis shrimp with no hesitations) I also know that having that many fish means I need to clean it more often than usual which I do and Ive had all the fish in there for almost a year now, except the gramma which was purchased about 2 months ago. I do a ton of up keep on it to keep all the fish in there but it is worth it :) I am also looking to upgrade to a larger tank as soon as I find the right one :) and no offense taken I have had a few people say that to me but they also always add in that as long as I keep my tank nice and clean it is fine, so I just clean and clean and everyone is happy :D and all of the fish get a long really well. I have never even seen any bites or nips on any of there fins or anywhere else on them :)

thanks for all the input everyone it is really helpful. Im really glad I found this forum. I go on reptile forums (breed ball pythons) but man I didnt know there was a forum like this! This is awesome YAY :victory:

if it is the crab, ther is a chance it could stop messing with it but i wouldn't bank on that. I would look into either getting rid of it or moving it to the sump if you have one.

Also, what LED system do you have. You could have too much light for it, but I dont think you would notice a problem from too much light in 2 days time. Im not a chalice expert but they usually dont need too much light.

Well good news. I moved the stunner down and have noticed a difference. The edges are still chipped on one side but the white color is gone and looks healthy. All parameters are perfect and the light I have is a 150 Watt equivalent led (equivalent to t5 halide) I can't remember who makes it but it was bought on ebay and all of My corals have responded amazingly to it. :) I think everything is going to turn out perfect :) thanks everyone
