I've done it a couple of times. With a couple of hits and misses. Recommendations: Be a freak about sterility and don't drink while you are brewing:hehe:

Hah! I can't see that happening ;) Plus I'm going to brew in smallish batches - couple gallons at a time.

I'll make sure to take that into consideration - what do you normally sterilize with? Boiling water should do the trick?

if your going to get into it id get a 5g set up you can find lots of brew kits for this amount of beer. id also look into draft kegs if you can drink the beer in 2 or 3 weeks this will save you lots of time and you can buy all kinds of sterilizer to make the job ez or bleach and water just make sure you get it all off lol and cl has lots of stuff from people who get into it and get out so its way cheep nothing is better than drinking your oun brew so good luck and have fun.

Been doing it for almost 15yrs now. If you are patient & have fun at the same time, you'll never go back to the store bought stuff. Almost intense & satisfying as Reefing.

Go online to a company called "The Home Brew". Check it out. 8)

p.s. Sorry Mission, you gotta try some of your last Brew while Brewing a new batch.
Also, you buy the bottles new or wash them out after use & store them. You use iodophor to sanitize.

Some use bleach but run into killing the yeast in their brew. Not all bleach is the same....has all kidsa crap added (for laundry anyways).

p.s. also Zach, if and when you decide, let me know what your plan is. I have stuff stacked to the rafters in my storage (buckets, fittings, pots, hose, etc.). Even got a converted European 10g Keg for cooking.
#1 bit of advice, don't buy the 12oz crappy little bottles. Try & use the 1qt from Mexican beer bottles(less work in bottling). Can't be twist off which most Mexican beers aren't. Suggest "Carta Blanca" in quarts. Great lighter beer, plus you get to keep the bottle for your own brew. You'll find 20z empties at the brew stores but I like beer & bottle in quarts.

p.s.s. ALSO, GAVE YOU THE WRONG SITE WHICH IS MY BREW STORE IN SAN DIEGO. ONLINE: "THE HOMEBREWERY"....have all that you need to get started. Great kits for beginners too!! (Don't forget, I have all kinds of stuff I'll give you)
