I just adjust it, so the bubbles are away from the neck, clean. and raise it up. It takes like 2 min with a toothbrush to scrub my cup

If you don't turn it off, do you just let it bubble?

Well, like snookz, adjusts down to keep it from bubbling over. or maybe blocking the air inlets.

On my hydor slim skim the water height is adjusted by a small air valve from the pull that goes to a turning knob at the top of the cup. When I need to clean the cup I take the air line out of the air hole at the top if the yop and remove it. By doing this the water automatically lowers and bubbles become smaller when the cup is removed.

I clean the cup with a small toothbrush and some damp paper towels. Put the cup back and it's running like normal once again.

I let it run, and clean it with an acrylic safe aquarium scrubbie, when I take it off. I sometimes worry that the small amount of foam that drops down, when I take the cup off, might harm fish or coral, but have yet to see any change from before, to after. I see more of an effect from adding 2 part, than from anything that goes back in the tank, from the skimmer. Just make sure to clean the cup, often, so, you don't get a huge buildup, on the neck, which I guess could drop off, into the tank or skimmer body. I read somewhere, that a reefer would put a tablespoon of his skimmate back into the tank, to feed his coral, but I don't think I'd want to do that. I overfeed my tank, as it is, without putting skimmate back in the tank. Of course, to each his own. He did say that the coral went crazy, when he did it.
