Hi everyone. just wanted to drop in and say hello. Right now i have a 16 gallon freshwater tank. lately i have been finding myself wandering over to the salt water fish/reef side. I have been researching, reading, just trying to soak up as much info as i can. I have also been looking for a new tank since i have heard that the bow front tanks are not the best for the lighting situation. What do u think guys think of the Eclipse 29 gallon tank? Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks, Scott :cheesy:

    Hi Scott!
I am not familiar with the eclipse set-up. Can you give us a rundown on what it comes with?

All i really know is what it says on diff web sites. They say it comes with a hydrometer, a heater, 3 stage bio wheel filter system, and duh lighting...

The eclipse 29 is not a good selection. You can't add a protein skimmer and the stock lighting is compact fluorescent.

    Well, there ya go ;)
I always suggest just getting a tank and everything separately anyways. You can often come out with the same total price and have MUCH better equipment and a healthier system than the "kits".

Thanks for the heads up.... my other choice was going to be around a 55 gallon tank.... the only thing is that I'm not totally sure in what a tank of that size needs quiet yet... pump, filter system, heater, lighting... ya so on and so forth.

A 55 would be an excellent choice. Its a good balance in size. Smaller tanks in SW are actually harder to care for than larger ones. Larger ones stay a lot more stable due to having a bigger water volume.
A good place to start might be places like craigslist. You can find all sorts of deals fairly cheap there. Someone had one earlier here that was a 55 that had just about everything to start off besides lighting for $250 bucks.

Couldn't you use this add on skimmer? Bio Cube Protein Skimmer

    Change out the lighting??

I dunno but the skimmer seems to work great on the display tank in the store... not an eclipse, a bio cube.....
