I already have 1 firefish but I would like to get some more. I did a pretty good search and couldnt find a solid answer as to how many I could add. Does anyone have experience adding firefish to a tank that has one already? How many firefish could I add safely without too much stress on the new ones or the existing one? My tank just needs more fish life in it. I only have 3 fish and would like to add some more. If adding more firefish is not a good idea how about suggestions for another reef safe small colorful fish, or school of fish.

HMMM, my last reef had a pair. I thought the same that firefish can be added when/how you want but learned that they need to be paired up from amcarrig. How about returning the single for a pair?

+1. They need to be gotten together as a pair or they will battle if you add another one later. Also, you shouldn't mix a purple with a red or a helfrichi as they will also fight. This is the advice that I received from my VERY trusted LFS.

This is your current stocking list in the 55?

    yellow tang, diamond goby, firefish,

Leaving aside the tang, looks like you got some docile fish.

I would recommend something that swims (vs a firefish that sort of just hangs out) through the rock work. A wrasse or gramma maybe (though either one of those may or may not play well with the firefish).
