I'm looking for some suggestion on how to clean my sump. Its to close to the floor to use a siphon.

I isolated mine from the main tank, pumped the water into buckets instead of the DT and then simply pulled it out and emptied it into the bath rinsed it out, popped it back under the tank, re plumbed it, re filled it and started the pump again.
    Voila ! Clean sump

I use a small maxi jet pump with a short piece of tube at the suction end, and a long tube to a bucket.

After turning off the return pump, I'll pull about half the water out with the maxijet. Then I'll stir up the bottom a bit and then use the pump much like a vacuum cleaner.

My only advice - make sure you secure the end of the tube to your bucket. You don't want that thing getting loose and dumping water all over the room ;-)

MJ powerhead with tubing for small clean ups and a shop vac to do a good job.
