I've really been enjoying all the great information here. This is a great site for the newbie such as myself. I don't have a reef tank setup yet, I'm in the process of building mine on the cheap (thanx craigslist!). I've done freshwater tanks for years, and have finally decided to move onto a reef tank. So far the only saltwater equipment that I have is a protein skimmer (Aqua C Remora), my next move is to buy a lighting system. I'm sure to be peppering you with lots of questions soon, so thanks in advance for your help!;D

Welcome to 3reef. Dont think the word "cheap" and "saltwater" go together very well...;D

Glad you are researching and planning before you add water, there are a lot that dont and end up with problems.

Well I'm trying to decide if I want to convert a 29 gallon tank that I have as freshwater into my reef tank or if I want to use it as a refugium for a larger 55 or 60 gallon tank. I know that more water volume is generally better, but it seems like a lot of folks are having success with nano reef tanks these days.
