I have a contractor coming today to start the re design of my basement where my 480 gallon total system lives.
I am experiencing some humidity concerns, I am running a dehumidifier in the basement the room is sitting at a average 53% according to the machines.

I don't really want these 2 machines blowing and being noisy 24/7, so I am looking at other ideas, that the contractor can install when he guts the basement and starts from scratch.

I have considered 2 high velocity wall fans placed above the tank and sump to constantly remove the damp air, but someone said that would also increase the evaporation from the tank ? I have ceiling fans, but I want to remove them as they are unsightly.
I have AC which I don't run whilst there is snow on the ground (September - April) if I need AC on is there a great efficient system anyone could recommend ? I would just run this downstairs.
Would a air exchange help me out ?

Looking for your advice, so I have some suggestions for the contractor.
I will also post his suggestions if he has any :)

As always, thank you my 3reef family.

I had a whisper quiet "fart fan" installed above my 250 in my basement and it does a good job, along with the AC, of keeping the humidity down in my basement overall. Of course I live in Georgia, and we run the AC probably a bit more than you might (not sure where you live...but you mentioned snow!). Not sure my solution is perfect, but I can say that I had the fart fan put in after the fact (I did a basement remodel and added the fan at that time)...and I did notice a big difference with it vs. without it.

After my house started "moulding" I finally gave up on dehumidifiers and fans and installed a large HRV which finally remedied things for me.
In warmer wintertime climates you can use an ERV.

    I'm in northern Alberta, Canada.
This year is crazily warm, we have only hit -10 probably 12 days, only had 4- 5 inches of snow and I even rode my motor cycle 1 day last year, normally we have snow from sept/October and -20 and lower every single day............. If this is global warming...........I'm ok with it. :)

I have a geothermal AC and it keeps my house pretty darn dry. My towels dry fast and it is all around much more comfortable. It's great for heating in the winter and cooling in the summer... having said that, I'm in TX. It should hit 81 tomorrow :sunny: and it may or may not be worth the investment for you.

In the USofA we currently have a federal 30% rebate thing going on which makes the systems competitive with traditional heat pump type Lennox systems. It basically covered all my drilling costs. Of course, this was all new construction.

I also have an ERV that half my fart fans run to. That device is amazing.

In my last house, I never had to put water in my cigar humidor. Now I have to soak the sponge every few days. I've also noticed my evap rate is much faster here.

Geographically, I'm in the same environment both places.

    I believe a bathroom fan :)

I think that would certainly help.
