My recently purchased a HUmu Humu trigger to wait out a predator that desimated my tank. He eats right out of my hand, it's pretty cool.. anyway...

My original idea was to take him back for credit after his chore was done.. now I have learned to reallylike his agility and feroscity! Which leads me to my question...

Since keeping him means accepting that I am limited to a FOWL, what others can co-exist with him? I need to keep the rest of the tank clean of debree and algae, but he will own any invert or cleaner fish I put in there.

Humu's are notorious for harassing Lionfish to death. I've had it happen. I knew better but the wife wanted the combo of a Humu and a Volitan's

Im not to familiar with the Huma Trigger, but i have a Niger, and Porc. Puffer. but for cleaning i've added a foxface and a LMB. and they are keeping my algea well under control. i have no hermis/snails. im about to get some urchins to help out as its still growing on my sand a little. I added a Cleaner Wrasse for fish cleaning, but will be replacing with Neon Gobbies as soon as my LFS gets some in.

The Humu Humu or Picasso trigger is very different than a Niger. They are very aggressive.

Yeah, they pull their spikes out right?! Yeah Humu Humu nuku nuku apu'a a (I love to say that) are a fun fish, and one of the reason's I got into saltwater (coral became more important), but they'll chew the wires of your powerhead, and spit in your face as you walk by! I've had nigers in a reef. Other than eating a few tiny chromises, he was a model citizen. Blue Jaws are better though IMO, although mine also ate chromises as well..

So as far as fish, I'd say anything larger and faster. -tangs, lunare wrasse, puffers, I'm thinking that clowns might be a snack unless bought large -like a full grown maroon clown, or if you have a host Anemone.

Cool. Thanks for the info from everybody. I think I'm going to put the Damsels in ( I got them for free, and they are lightning fast) and see if I can find a Wrasse large enough that he wouldn't eat him. Maybe I am naive, but maybe if I keep him fed we won't want to kill everything else in the tank.

    thanks again

Yep I thought that I could control fish by keeping them fed....Nope. They will slip eventually. All it will take is you missing one feeding. I lost a wonderful pair of Orchard dottybacks that way.
