Any one else running a Hydor Koralia 1 powerhead in their tanks? what size tanks and what model Hydor? I just got mine in today and put it in the left corner of my 29gal... I thought I was going to see alot more flow from what I have read online. Guess I need the Koralia 2 or maybe just a whole different PH... live and learn lol. here are some pics.

The koralia isnt designed to blast out water like a jet stream it is designed to generate a lot of flow over a broad area. Im happy with mine.

Ive read they are great!! Like a cheap tunze. It also uses almost no wattage!! The number 3 or 4 only uses 8 watts!! I would love to gets some.

That design, being exemplified in the Koralin and Tunze stream powerheads, is without a doubt how powerheads should work! The ordinary powerheads offer a stream of water many times too powerful to be aimed straight across your water column without banking it off your glass as I have mentioned. Or you run the risk of knocking coral over, damaging tissue or decreasing the ability of certain corals to open their polyps fully.
The invention of the Tunze stream, Hydor Koralin, and I believe Seio also has implemented this style, has allowud us to showcase more waterflow(gph) albeit, to a greater portion of our tank thus decreasing the nomber of powerheads we need and limiting dead space within our tanks!

I think you are right, which is why is why I initially went with the zoo-med with oscilating nozzle which is an eyesore compared to the hydor. think another hydor 1 or even 2 would be overkill in a 29gal?

Nope it shouldn't! What are you planning on keeping in the 29 as far as corals?

I have a 2 on my 30 gallon hex and it provides enough flow. I got the two because I thought it was smaller than a 3, I wish I would have gotten the three now. Overall, great pump!
