definitely don't do 1400s. I have 2 of those in my 6' tank and I only need 2.. I get some nice flow across the tank and I have them alternating on wavemakers. Stick with a bunch of smaller ones.

I agree and disagree with ya stick smith! There can def be too much flow, especially for a lps and softie only tank like the OP wants!

But I just put 2 1400 evo's in my 55 and things are adjusting after a few days! I did have to move my frogspawn and toadstool, they certainly were ticked off, but they are coming around nicely!

But OP, if you truly are gonna stick with lps and softies only, I'd add a 1050 to the mix!IMO

Thanks for the help guys a third powerhead soundslike the best option, either a 425 or a 750. In addition the tank has a 264gph HOB filter. Do not yet have a skimmer or anything else on the tank. I plan on adding a skimmer and or another HOB filter for chemical media

yeah...looks like things got mixed up with my 90 vs your 46.:p..don't want to run 1400 or 1050's in a 46...but mo'flow is relative to the tank..go with more that are compatible to your circumstance....a couple of each...425/750..on a wave type system...GOLDEN...imo ;D
