Thanks, and yeah, it is a trachy. Brought that baby back from the brink of death. When it came in the mail, the bag was devoid of all water and it was bleached almost pure white. About 8mos later and it looks like that and has quickly become one of my favorites, and my clowns as well.

This unit is decent. I've had mine just under a week now on a 225 with 4 x 1400 Hydor Evolutions.

What I don't like about the Hydor wavemaker is the little click sound of the hydor's when they turn on and off. It should be silent.

I don't see much difference in the videos.

I don't either, but I think this is due to the fact that he has only 2 750's on the tank.

Yeah it is kind of hard to see the difference in the videos bc I do only have the two. Like I said, I can see the difference in the tank in person. The evos are in the back of the tank so that could be a factor as well. I will say though that the clicking noise has now almost completely gone away.

LOL i was going to post a topic like this myself once my smartwave arrives. I can't believe you received yours. I ordered mine from MarineDepot the day it came out and I still dont have it (should arrive sometime today). I can't believe it has taken a week for it to arrive. This is rediculous. (/vent)

Thanks for sharing it. i cant wait till get mine.

Makes me wonder if I should have spent $300 on a Vortech!

    Nice review. Thanks!

You know, I had debated the same thing myself. I believe it's all a mater of what you want out of your wavemaker. The vortechs give you a lot more freedom in programming than the Smartwave and they've been on the market a lot longer than the Smartwave giving them more time to work bugs out.

I agree, my 2 1400s making that grinding sound as well. Have you noticed that if you tapped on it, that it sounds hollow?

I think for a $70 product that the quality lacks a bit.
