Hydrometer question

    Hi I'm starting a reef and I know that the saltinity level shuld be around 1.023 to 1.025 right my temp is 78F
    an now I have two hydrometers see the picture
    an tell me which one would be more acurate because the one on the left reads 1.018 and the one on the right the plastic one reads 1.022 what do you sugest thanks

    Have you tested them with RO/DI or distilled water. This would or should give you a reading of 1.000.
    Also are the readings consistent from both.
    Off the top I would say the Hydrometers on the left would be more accurate. But that's just because of the type.

    for the one on the right the plastic one did you make sure there were no airbubbles on the needle since that will give you an inaccuratly high reading

    The seatest hand held ***** IMO ***** is worthless. Use the deep six hand held will give a more accurate reading. The hydro meter should be the more accurate of the two.

    I use a Refractometer, personally. I love the thing, Best money I ever spend. I got it for $45.00 on Ebay. two drops of water on the glass and look through. Perfect reading every time. No dripping on the carpet, no air bubbles to knock out. Calibration is very easy.
