I added more flow to my 75 and new bulbs on my pc's and my red carpet algae has done nothing but get bigger. I now have stringy green algae and some green slime algae and it is all in high flow areas. What am I doing wrong. Oh and lights are on about 7 hours a day.

Are you using tap water? Sometimes PO4 can be introduced into the system via that route and cause problems. So, if you are using tap water, switch to RODI. Some LFS will give it out free if you do not have a unit. That's what I do.

Hi, I have the same problem long time ago, I fix it making water changes every week and feeding every other day, and in about a month was all gone with out chemicals.

if you dont want to take the chemical approach, i just got rid of Cyno by adding a product called "Cycle" and put Kent Marine Nitrate Spong into my filter, did a few more water changes and it cleared up pretty good.

I also just battled cyano recently and did the same things as you (new lights and more flow) and saw it grow faster.

I know there's a lot of products that claim to remove cyano but I figured there had to be something I was doing wrong for it to be there so if I fix that it will solve my problem. For what it's worth my main tactics were these:

    -reduced lighting period
-make sure no sunlight was hitting the tank
-switched from feeding mostly frozen foods to mostly pellets and flakes and making sure it's all eaten
    -phosban reactor with rowaphos
-more frequent water changes and sucking the cyano out directly

As far as I can tell, there's no trace of it in the tank anymore.
