My rock took two months. I put 300 lbs. in a 30 gallon trash can and set it under my RO/DI. I took the waste water line and put it in the bottom of the trash can, I drilled a hole in the top of the trash can to accept a 1/2 barb fitting. I installed a 1/2 line and ran it to a drain. My system uses 7 gallons a day so the trash can changed 28 gallons a day. I simply put a piece of tape on the trash can that has the date on it and check back in two months.
My rock always finishes in the same amount of time. I did cure some rock for a friend and his took almost 8 months to cure in my system. What he did different than I is, his rock was denser. I do not know what his recipe was but would guess he used a higher amount of cement than I did.
My technique is simple. 2 parts crushed limestone, 2 parts oyster shell and 1 part cement. I mix to a fairly thick consistency and dribble small amounts in the form, using two fingers and my thumb.
My rock is now 4 years old.

The mix i used was 1 part cement powder and 5 parts coarse aragonite and there not dense at all, it was about 100 lb in a 50 gal plastic drum. i think the problem might be that i did not let them dry long enough before curing them is all i can come up with. i thought id let them dry out for a week or so and play with a few in a bucket once to see if letting them dry out will make a difference.

I always thought it was typical for them taking up to 6 months?

The last ones i made last year only took 7 weeks to cure but then again it was a smaller batch of rocks and they dried 2 weeks before curing.
