I hate my skimmer!

I just bought the red sea prizm hang on back skimmer about a month ago.
I just thought id let everybody know i hate it!

Its so loud and annoying i have to turn it off every night. For the amount of noise it makes and poor quality skimming i cant belive they can even manufacture and sell this product the way it is. Its a joke.

Without my skimmer running my tank is a peacful work of art. As soon as i turn it on i dont even want to be in the same room as my tank.

on a scale of 1-10 i give this skimmer a 3.

Im breaking my tank down and starting over i think.. I think its time for a sump system with a in sump skimmer.

Dont waste your time or money on this skimmer. Inless your deaf and can sit in front of your tank ALL day and ajust the skimmer ever 10 min to get a good skim.

Sorry i just had to vent alittle. Its a great 200.00 noise maker tho.

That looks like my old one. Still sounds to loud..Im over hang on back skimmers in every way.

 

After reading more your skimmer acually looks really nice.. I will consider. Thanks

 

the sound you hear is the sound of the fan of my lights, the skimmer is silent, check out the reviews on every site, i had a loud hob before cpr bakpak so i know how u feel and would not of reccomended this if it was loud, i couldnt be happier with it, anyway, just a suggestion

I had a prizm on an old tank once... you're right, it's a piece of junk... the LFS was happy to sell it to me at the time, though.

 

sorry about your skimmer. i understand how you would be annoyed. i also like my tank to be quiet and peaceful and anything loud drives me nuts. hope you get it resolved.
