    Stingray's have specific needs complete to what type of substrate you need to use. I would suspect a 18" wide tank would not meet the requirements. But I have never looked into it.
    you should build the tank for the stingray if that is the show piece fish. And then elliminate what fish the set up is not suitable for.

    I would'nt put a stingray in a 115 not even close to enough room for it to thrive maybe a 1000 long tank would do with lots of meaty foods for the ray and the obvious.

    If you decide to go with a stingray regardless of the advice given here (I would skip it personally), I would definitely set up a refugium to deal with the extreme bio-load that this fish will produce.

    what about fish only

    i have been told i can do fish only witha wet dry trickle filter is that true

    If your going fish only then a trickle filter will be fine. Forget the ray!! You sure you dont want any corals in there?:confused:

    yeah i am not doing a ray no more will i still have to run live rock the store tld me the trickle is the same what do i need beside the trickle filter
