aww thats great to hear, first hand experience like that :)

i was hit by a drunk driver when i was 8 and i needed a few pints myself :D I've been donating since i turned 16 few years back and i'd never stop donating. doesn't take much of my time and its good to know that i'm perpetuating that good karma to someone who needs it. ;D

very cool!K+ and I'm glad you made it through that!!!

my mom's been donating for about 50 years, or when they started and she's got a few plaques on different walls in NJ and GA. My sister gives plasma all the time, like every 6 weeks or so. I give when I see the mobile place, but after I received they wouldn't let me give for a year if I remember correctly.

thanks. it was a pretty bad accident. i dont drive, and cars in general make me nervous to this day.

Thats soo awesome of your mom. She has my total respect and awe for donating all those years! I've never given plasma but i dont qualify for the pherisis(sp?) machine, i think i'm too short they have a height/weight requirement in my state. lol maybe if i grow another inch we'll see :)

company policy, if we donate blood, we have to wait 14 days after donation to report back for duty (no pay). It is reduced to 72 hours (no pay) if a hematocrit test is done before the donation, and another one after the donation that shows the hematocrit is no less than 3% lower than it was prior to the donation (hematocrit test is at our cost, and is not cheap).

Do you mind if I ask why? What kind of work do you do that has these rules?

Oh, and I don't give blood because I'm pretty much terrified of needles. Yeah yeah I've got tattoos but it's not the same thing. IT'S NOT! :)

I am a flying bus driver :p airline pilot. I think it has to do with the fact that if you pass out on the job it can be really bad for all the people in the back

Aaaaaah, so 14 days is how long it takes for your body to replenish it's blood supply?
