I have a powder blue tang that might have ich. Before I go to the asap forum and give all parimiters and info I wanted to ask a couple of questions. I have had this fish for several months and he seams to be getting bigger and looks great. However I noticed some small specks on his pectoral finns. I also noticed them on the body. The specks are just light spots, not like salt .The weird thing is I only see them in the morning when the lights first come on. The other thing is none of the other fish show any sign. Any thoughts

Could be a few things... As long as you keep him happy and fat he will most likely fight through it if it is a parasite of sorts...Sometimes the beginnings of ick look like that, so just watch him closely and stay on top of water changes.

    Good luck

This could also be his noctounal coloring. Perhaps he is just "waking-up'? Does it look like this large white spot? If so, it is crypt.

HEHEHEHEHEHE... He has been like this since he was tiny.. Had several bad encounters with a french angel.. He is much better now. ;D Still looks like crap, but he has personality. The french ate off almost all of his fins, and tore him to pieces.. I'm happy he is still alive and well.:) He has no anal fins, his pectoral fins are still shredded (four years later), and his caudual fin is obviously damaged. It doesn't appear that he will ever heal completely. :(

I have a guy in our local club that inherited a yellow tang named sharky that's dorsal fin is only a point, it was chewed to the point that it never healed and now, like his name implies he looks like a shark

it could be stress that caused that.
( telling you from experience with that kind of tang)

    how big is your tank?
    water parameters?
