hi spivver the cup is an ice cream carton that the shop put him in for me to bring home and as much as i want a smasher i dont think i can take him back as he was housed in a box not much bigger in the shop. as far as catchin 1 i would suggest some pipe sealed at 1 end wait for him to go in and seal the other end carefully you could try baiting the pipe. or i read some1 used a glass with brine shrimp in the bottom just use watever yours prefers to eat so it cant resist goin in lol good luck

Thanks man. I think it's a matter of finding the right bait... trial and error until it happens!

Is it wrong that I envy you and your mantis hitch hikers? :laughings

I'm in the UK and finding a mantis impossible to come by! Looking for a pseudosquilla ciliata or a gonodactylus smithii and i've so far found no sources. The LFS are looking into it for me, but doubt they'll be able to find anything, too.

Yeah it is! I'm off to hand in the names of the mantis that I'm looking for to the LFS today though, as they said they can try a few suppliers for me :) Fingers crossed, eh? Haha.
