Ugh, I hate hearing "this is the worst invasion" you have ever seen... That isn't the only area I have them. I have a few smaller areas.

Any idea on how to get rid of them, other then taking the rock out of the tank? Unfortunately, they are on some of my base rocks.

I used Aiptasia-X to smother a small patch I had. But it was much smaller than yours! Worth a shot though. Do it with all of your pumps and powerheads off. Do a small patch to start, then another patch after a couple days.

I will order some of that and try a small patch and see if it works.

    Thanks for everyone's help!!

Personally, I would remove the most infested rock and nuke it, and use Marshall's advice for the remaining smaller colonies. That would be easier and less time-consuming IMO.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I agree with Mr.Bill, save yourself some frustration down the line.

FYI I have heard that Limpets will eat hydroids, but I would not rely on finding the right type of limpet.

    LOL

The problem with Hydroids is that they can spread so rapidly and they pack a potent sting, capable of killing fish as well as any corals or sessile inverts they come into contact with.

Aiptasia-X worked, it wiped them out!

I can't remove the rock without taking the entire tank apart. They are on my base rock.

Good to hear! I don't know much about Aiptasia-X, but wouldn't it be better to just use boiling water (assuming the same things kill these hydroids)? Because too much lemon juice will change the alk, and wouldn't too much A-X be bad for the tank, since it's chemicals?
