    It could be one of those little white worms that are in the sand..I had them in my tank and they didnt hurt anything..

    That is my guess..

    Almost impossible to tell without seeing the source. Possibly feeding strands from a vermitid snail. It is a safe snail but it can irritate corals with its feeding strand.
