Right now I have a 90 on a 30in stand. I'm 5'8" and I can JUST reach the bottom in the front. If I need to reach anything from the middle back I need a chair. This is one of the reasons I'm getting a shallower tank but going with a taller stand...like 36" but tank is only 12". I might go a little higher on the stand not sure yet.

36" is perfect to me. I have had a 30" and 36" stand and the 36" is not too tall and not too short. It is easily viewed when standing. And yes you will probably need a small stool to get your hand down to the bottom but that is no biggie

I am thinking 36 may be good even if I need a small step stool

mine is 26 inches tall puts my tank at 51 3/4" tall almost perfect if i was to do it again it would be at 30 inches it would make it nice wile sitting and standing but at 26 my g2 skimmer is perfect with about 3 inches of room

and with 30 inches of room you could run a verry nice skimmer my g 2 works great but as always theres always room for improvement

my 29g is at 30", which seems really low. I can't view it unless I lean over(I'm 6'1") or if I sit down at the dinning table then it is OK, but even then it is a little low.

When I get my 75g up, I am going to have the stand a minimum of 36". This should make it a little closer to eye level wen sitting down. Personally, I want my stand to be at 42" so the top of the tank(no canopy on this tank) is at 63"...this is just below my chin...perfect for viewing while standing and sitting. I will just need a small step stool to reach the sandbed.

I think I am going to put a tank size sheet of paper (maybe wrapping Paper) on the wall at the different heights and see which looks the best. I am only building the stand once so it has to be right the first time.

If your main viewing is from a seated position you may want it lower. If you don't want to use a step stool i would measure to my armpit and go at that height.
