Poor Toby (bi-colored rabbitfish)...he jumped out of the tank and I did not get there in time. My first fish loss to a suicide. :'(

Too bad 'cause he was doing really well and getting big quickly. I would recommend these highly to anyone!!

I did not have the heart to replace him with the same type so I am looking at a "gold striped rabbitfish" at the LFS.

In the interim I bought a Maroon Clown, but she had Brooklynella and she died in quarantine [smiley=cry2.gif] before I could get some Formalin.

Live and learn...make sure you use QT tanks out there people!!!!

    Poor baby! :'(

I just learned my lesson about QT. My $7 gobie gave my $100 tang ich. He is in the QT now. It was not easy catching him either!!!!! It is not enough to just inspect the fish.......

My sailfin blenny jumped also....I found him all dried up on the rug.... :p

Nothing like tearing the whole tank apart to catch one fish!!! The rabbit missed my container of new wc water by about a foot..if he'd made it he would have lived.

Yeah, inspection won't do, the next fish goes in QT for a month. I did that with my Tang and it worked out nicely!!

I have a foxface, named flixx cause he likes to "flick" his spines at his reflection :p he's a ham too. Not shy at all and definetly knows who feeds him cause as soon as i walk up to look at the tank he's right there looking at me begging for food. :) He was the first fish i got and has outlived 3 other attempted fishies (RIP) Great lil fish. He even picks at the cyno algae that i'm battling with. Hope your next/new one does better than Toby :)

Thanks Astalie...I'll really miss Toby. He was my first saltwater fish and was really beautiful, a little shy but he loved eating dried seaweed from a clip on the glass and would come right up to me when I suctioned the clip onto the tank.

I'm thinking about a gold striped rabbitfish that I saw at the local LFS. I didn't know there was a rabbit like this one, same general shape but silver sides with gold shiny stripes on him kind of like a freshwater dwarf gourami.

Good Luck with Flixx. He sounds like a happy little guy.

Thanks Dx7fd2! One thing i've noticed since working at the fish store is that usually, but not always, the bigger rabbitfish we get in don't seem to do as well as the younger/smaller ones do. They almost always get ick and get mottled as soon as you come near the tank and hide by the overflow. If you can try to get a smaller one. Flixx was only about 2" when I got him, if that. He hasn't gotten much longer.. just a fatter belly :) but i've only had him 4 months. Are you talking about a Scribbled Rabbitfish?
